Interesting programs on hunting, fishing, environment, ecology and related topics are open to the public on the last Friday of March, June, August and October. The meetings begin at 6:00 pm at the clubhouse. The March and October meetings include a pot-luck dinner and the June and August meetings include “cookouts” provided by the club; you are encouraged to bring a salad, dessert, or side dishes. Our annual spring pot-luck dinner meeting will be held at 6:00 PM in the clubhouse on Friday, March 30, the last Friday of the month. Winnie Oustecky will be coordinating the kitchen once again. If you can bring a main dish, a salad or a dessert, great! Please give Winnie a call and let her know. (She's at 536-4129) If you can't prepare a dish, come anyway … there's always plenty of food. Following the dinner a fascinating program will be presented by Squam Lakes Natural Science Center Senior Nturalist Dave Erler. Project OspreyTrack Ospreys or “fish hawks” as they are sometimes called have had a fascinating history in New Hampshire. Once a threatened species they have made a remarkable come back in the past 20 years. Beginning in 2011 the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center with funding from Public Service of New Hampshire began a 3 year study of ospreys nesting in the Lakes Region. This project includes tracking male and juvenile ospreys via satellite transmitters to learn more about their foraging ranges and migration routes. Squam Lakes Natural Science Center Senior Naturalist Dave Erler will present a program on the natural history of the osprey and details about this exciting project. For information, call Fred Allen at 603-968-9944 or email to fredallendvm@myfairpoint.net. Your program suggestions and comments invited. Respond to mail@pemi.org or call club president Randy Enger at 978-443-5429.
