Event Title: NH High Power Rifle League Shoot # 4/6
Sunday, September 7, 2008
Time: 7:15 AM EST
The Pemi is one of four clubs in New Hampshire that comprise the New Hampshire High Power Rifle League (NHHPRL). We shoot a series of matches throughout the summer -- very approximately one a month at each club from May to October. Shooters compete for individual awards and clubs compete for team awards. The League is "NRA approved", meaning the scores are sent into the NRA at the end of the season where they're used to set each shooter's classification.

The format of the matches is the same at each club, and is as follows:

Stage 1: 12 minutes for 10 shots offhand plus "unlimited" sighters [*]. Shots are fired from the 200 yard line. The target is the standard SR 200-yard high power target.

Stage 2: 2 minutes for "unlimited" sighters. Then 2 strings of 10 shots fired in the sitting position. Shots are fired from the 200-yard line. The target is the SR target.

Stage 3: 2 minutes for "unlimited" sighters. Then 2 strings of 10 shots fired in the prone position. On our 200-yard range the reduced target, the SR-42, is used.

The cost is $12 per shooter per match. There's also a one-time $5 fee for Pemi team members; this is used to cover the League team fee.

Rifles allowed are NRA match rifles and service rifles, iron sights only. The League provides .223 ammo for junior shooters for use at the match. The cost to the junior is zero. Adult competitors must provide their own ammo.

Registration usually starts by 7:15am. Squadding closes at 7:45am, with the goal of getting the match started at 8:00am.

[*] "Unlimited" here means as many sighters are desired as long as all the shooting is done in the allotted time.

More information about the League and the matches can be found at NHHPRL.org. Or send e-mail to the Pemi team captain, Randy Enger, at randyenger@verizon.net.

Biathlon Fun Day/Clinic on Saturday, Sept 20. It will be run more informal, you can be timed on the whole course as done in the previous three matches, ask to be timed on one relay, get practice and/or coaching, practice your running, just socialize and swap lies (biathlon, fishing, hunting stories), for whatever mixture you want to put together. Everyone from both teams is urged to take part in this event.

Anyone interested in this fun and challenging sport is urge to attend, everyone is welcome! See the club's web site, www.pemi.org and click on Biathlon for an overview of the sport.

Kevin Brooker, most of you have met him at our events or at MA, will do a clinic that promises to answer all your questions (biathlon related, not your personal problems!) and make you an Olympic biathlete …….. well, maybe I am not authorized to say that, but you definitely benefit from the clinic!

We will put together a BBQ of dogs and burgers and fix'ns for around noontime. You are very welcome to bring along additions, a salad, goodies, s'mores, etc. We will have plates and bowls and drinks.

Cost will be by donation for the feed and the cost of the clinic, shooting, etc will be a $10 registration fee. Register at the range this time starting at 9:00. No rain date, if raining we will still have the clinic in the clubhouse and shooting for those hardy souls who so choose.

A reminder that the .22's should be sub-sonic, if you are not sure call or email me and also I will have some on-site if you end up short-handed. And again, we have a limited # of loaners for the new-comers (and the seasoned who have not yet jumped in feet first and got your first biathlon rifle)

200 yard range closed 'til late afternoon.n.
